I live in the Southwest and am delighted to be part of this exhibition. This region includes four deserts, sky island mountains and magnificent canyons that produce a rich biodiversity. Artists who are drawn here may connect through landscape, cloudscape, birds, reptiles, insects or plants. As I walked through the America’s Parks II Exhibition, I felt that these artists were as intensely captivated with this region as I am, and each had a story to share. Miniatures depicted fascinating detail. Sculptures displayed as much distinction in technique as in their subjects. Larger paintings interpreted a broad range of animal behavior, family life, and mesmerizing landscapes. The exhibition is as diverse as the region. I’d like to think visitors could be intrigued by a detail or make a discovery that inspires them to investigate more parks for themselves and better appreciate our public lands.

America's Parks of the Southwest ("America's Parks II") opened to an appreciative crowd on Saturday, September 13, at the Ironwood Gallery. The gallery is located within the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum near Tucson, Arizona. The opening reception began with a simultaneous ribbon-cutting by all of the attending artists. Everyone then had 2 hours to enjoy the show.

The guests and several of the artists enjoyed the wonderful paintings and sculptures depicting the beauty of the Southwest. There were many positive comments regarding the variety of styles and subjects represented by these artworks.

The art has been thoughtfully positioned in a white gallery space which accentuates and enhances the colors of the Southwest. Many of the pieces can easily be observed from a distance or up close which allows for different perspectives on the art.

A visit to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum to view America's Parks is highly recommended. This is a quality art exhibit in a stunning Sonoran desert setting and it will not disappoint!

Really enjoyed taking-in the America’s Parks II exhibit at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The diversity of subject matter, style and medium, has made for a very interesting show (great 2D and sculptural works). Leading up to the opening, I had seen some wonderful digital images of these pieces, but nothing quite equals standing face-to-face with original artwork. In this exhibit, each artist’s deep appreciation for Mother Nature’s work is very apparent in their own creations! Well worth that gorgeous desert drive out to ASDM.
